1. Our Commitment

Briarwood Fine Hardwood Furniture takes pride in building high-quality hardwood bedroom furniture in Ohio. Each piece is built with care and passes through multiple points of inspection before shipment.

This Limited Warranty explains what is covered, what is not covered, and how warranty claims are handled.

2. Products Covered

This Limited Warranty applies to Briarwood Fine Hardwood Furniture bedroom furniture manufactured by Briarwood Beds LLC and purchased through an authorized Briarwood dealer.

This Limited Warranty does not apply to:

  1. Products not manufactured by Briarwood;
  2. Products sold as prototypes, seconds, closeouts, samples, floor models, auction items, or “as-is” items;
  3. Products purchased from unauthorized sellers, secondary-market sellers, resale platforms, discount outlets, or any seller not authorized by Briarwood;
  4. Products used in commercial, rental, institutional, hospitality, or similar non-residential settings, except as provided in the separate Commercial Use Warranty section below.

3. Who Is Covered

This Limited Warranty applies only to the original retail purchaser of the covered Briarwood product.

This Limited Warranty is non-transferable. It ends if the product is sold, gifted, inherited, transferred, or otherwise no longer owned by the original retail purchaser.

A valid warranty claim requires proof of purchase, including the applicable Briarwood order number and purchase date.

4. Length of Warranty

  1. Wood Construction and Workmanship: Limited Lifetime Warranty
  2. Briarwood warrants covered bedroom furniture against manufacturing defects in materials and workmanship for as long as the original retail purchaser owns the furniture. For purposes of this Limited Warranty, “lifetime” means the period during which the original retail purchaser owns the furniture.
  3. Finish: 10-Year Limited Warranty
  4. Briarwood warrants the original factory-applied finish against manufacturing defects for 10 years from the date of purchase. This finish warranty does not cover normal wear, fading, discoloration, patina, surface scratches, damage from cleaning products, chemical exposure, water, heat, sunlight, humidity, or other environmental conditions.
  5. Third-Party Components
  6. Briarwood’s warranty covers third-party components included in Briarwood furniture, such as drawer slides, hinges, hardware, glass, mirrors, and metal components, when the failure is caused by a covered manufacturing defect.
  7. Discontinued Products
  8. If a covered product, part, style, wood species, finish, or component is discontinued, Briarwood may provide a reasonably similar replacement part, product, repair, refund, or credit, as determined by Briarwood. Because hardwood furniture naturally varies, replacement parts may not be an exact visual match to the original product.

5. Commercial Use Warranty

Furniture used in commercial, rental, institutional, hospitality, or similar non-residential settings is not covered by the Limited Lifetime Warranty. For approved commercial-use products, Briarwood provides a 2-year limited warranty against manufacturing defects in materials and workmanship from the date of purchase. Commercial use includes, but is not limited to, use in:
  1. Rental properties;
  2. Hotels, motels, inns, lodges, or hospitality facilities;
  3. Offices;
  4. Restaurants;
  5. Churches;
  6. Schools;
  7. Senior living facilities;
  8. Model homes;
  9. Staging homes;
  10. Airbnb, VRBO, or other short-term rental properties;
  11. Any other non-residential or high-use setting.

The 10-year finish warranty does not apply to commercial-use furniture unless Briarwood agrees otherwise in writing.

6. What This Warranty Covers

This Limited Warranty covers manufacturing defects in materials and workmanship, including:
  1. Defective workmanship;
  2. Failed joints caused by a manufacturing defect;
  3. Structural failure caused by a manufacturing defect;
  4. Drawer failure caused by a manufacturing defect;
  5. Drawer-slide failure caused by a manufacturing defect;
  6. Finish defects caused by Briarwood’s manufacturing process;
  7. Other defects in materials or workmanship caused by Briarwood.

This warranty does not guarantee that hardwood furniture will remain unchanged over time. Hardwood furniture naturally responds to use, age, light, humidity, temperature, and environment.

7. Natural Wood Characteristics

Briarwood furniture is made from real hardwood. Real hardwood has natural variation. These natural characteristics are part of the beauty of hardwood furniture and are not manufacturing defects. This Limited Warranty does not cover complaints or claims based on:
  1. Natural grain variation;
  2. Natural color variation;
  3. Mineral streaking;
  4. Knots;
  5. Distressing or rustic characteristics;
  6. Seasonal wood movement;
  7. Finish aging or patina;
  8. Reasonable variation between samples, showroom pieces, catalog images, website images, and delivered furniture.

For products ordered in a rustic style or finish, knots and natural characteristics are expected. Rustic pieces may include knots, including filled knots, up to approximately quarter-size unless otherwise agreed in writing. Briarwood allows for reasonable color variation in hardwood furniture. Minor variation in color, grain, texture, distressing, and finish is not a defect.

8. Humidity, Temperature, and Environmental Conditions

Hardwood furniture must be kept in a properly controlled indoor environment. The recommended indoor humidity range is 40% to 50%. The original purchaser is responsible for maintaining proper indoor humidity and environmental conditions. This Limited Warranty does not cover damage caused by:
  1. Humidity outside the recommended 40% to 50% range;
  2. Rapid temperature changes;
  3. Direct sunlight;
  4. Heat registers;
  5. Radiators;
  6. Garages, basements, barns, storage units, or unconditioned spaces;
  7. Water exposure;
  8. Mold or mildew;
  9. Any other improper environmental condition.

Cracking, splitting, warping, checking, or movement caused by improper humidity, temperature, storage, cleaning, use, or environment is not covered.

9. Cleaning and Care

The customer is responsible for properly cleaning and caring for the furniture.

Briarwood’s Cleaning and Care Guidelines are attached to and incorporated into this Limited Warranty.

This Limited Warranty does not cover damage caused by:

  1. Harsh chemicals;
  2. Abrasive cleaners;
  3. Silicone-based polish;
  4. Wax buildup;
  5. Water left on the surface;
  6. Hot dishes, cups, pans, or other heated items;
  7. Alcohol;
  8. Nail polish remover;
  9. Ink;
  10. Failure to follow Briarwood’s Cleaning and Care Guidelines.

10. What This Warranty Does Not Cover

This Limited Warranty does not cover:

  1. Normal wear and tear;
  2. Scratches, dents, chips, gouges, stains, or other surface damage caused after delivery;
  3. Damage caused by misuse, abuse, neglect, or accidents;
  4. Damage caused by pets;
  5. Damage caused by children, household activity, or ordinary use not related to a manufacturing defect;
  6. Shipping or delivery damage occurring after delivery to the dealer or purchaser;
  7. Improper assembly;
  8. Customer modifications;
  9. Unauthorized repairs;
  10. Unauthorized refinishing;
  11. Use of non-Briarwood parts or components;
  12. Damage caused by fire, flood, storm, casualty, or acts of nature;
  13. Any issue not caused by a manufacturing defect in materials or workmanship.

11. Warranty Claim Process

Warranty claims must be submitted through the authorized Briarwood dealer from whom the product was purchased. The claim must be submitted within 30 days after the defect is discovered or reasonably should have been discovered. The dealer must provide Briarwood with the following information:
  1. Purchase date;
  2. Briarwood order number;
  3. Description of the product;
  4. Description of the claimed defect;
  5. Photos of the claimed defect;
  6. Photos of the full piece of furniture;
  7. Humidity information, if relevant;
  8. Any additional information reasonably requested by Briarwood.

Briarwood may deny a claim if the required information is not provided. Briarwood may require photographs, inspection, return of defective parts, or return of the product before approving a warranty claim. No warranty work, repair, replacement, credit, refund, or dealer reimbursement is authorized unless Briarwood approves it in advance.

12. Briarwood’s Remedies

If Briarwood determines that a covered defect exists, Briarwood will determine the appropriate remedy in its discretion. Available remedies may include:
  1. Repair;
  2. Replacement parts;
  3. Replacement of the product;
  4. Refinishing;
  5. Credit;
  6. Refund of the purchase price paid for the defective item.

Briarwood will make reasonable efforts to resolve approved warranty claims in a way that protects the customer experience and Briarwood’s reputation for quality. If Briarwood provides a refund, the refund will not exceed the original purchase price paid for the defective item. Replacement parts, repaired products, replacement products, credits, and refunds do not extend or restart the original warranty period.

13. Shipping, Labor, and Service Costs

For approved warranty claims:
  1. The dealer is responsible for shipping the defective item or part to Briarwood unless Briarwood agrees otherwise in writing.
  2. Briarwood will pay return shipping for approved repaired or replacement items or parts.
  3. Briarwood may cover in-home labor when approved in advance.
  4. Briarwood does not cover dealer labor unless approved by Briarwood in advance.
  5. Briarwood does not cover travel time, service-call fees, or similar charges unless approved by Briarwood in advance.
  6. Briarwood is not responsible for costs not approved in advance.

Briarwood is not responsible for removal or reinstallation costs for built-in, attached, unusually heavy, or difficult-to-access furniture unless Briarwood agrees in writing.

14. Dealer Authority

Dealers, salespeople, representatives, distributors, and other third parties are not authorized to change, expand, or modify this Limited Warranty.

No person or entity may make warranty promises on behalf of Briarwood beyond the terms of this Limited Warranty unless Briarwood agrees in writing.

Any dealer warranty work, customer accommodation, refund, replacement, credit, or repair must be approved by Briarwood before the dealer may seek reimbursement from Briarwood.

15. Limitation of Damages

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Briarwood is not responsible for incidental, indirect, special, punitive, or consequential damages, including but not limited to:
  1. Lost time;
  2. Lost profits;
  3. Lost business;
  4. Storage costs;
  5. Substitute furniture;
  6. Loss of use;
  7. Dealer chargebacks;
  8. Delay-related damages;
  9. Damage to other property;
  10. Any cost or loss not expressly covered by this Limited Warranty.

The remedies described in this Limited Warranty are the remedies available for covered warranty claims. Some states do not allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages, so some limitations may not apply to a particular purchaser.

16. Implied Warranties

To the fullest extent permitted by law, any implied warranties, including implied warranties of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose, are limited to the duration of the applicable written warranty period stated in this Limited Warranty.

Some states do not allow limitations on how long an implied warranty lasts, so this limitation may not apply to a particular purchaser.

This Limited Warranty gives the purchaser specific legal rights. The purchaser may also have other rights, which vary from state to state.

17. Ohio Law and Dispute Resolution

To the fullest extent permitted by law, this Limited Warranty shall be governed by the laws of the State of Ohio, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.

Before filing a lawsuit, the parties agree to make a good-faith effort to resolve any warranty dispute informally.

18. No Other Warranties

This Limited Warranty is the complete written warranty provided by Briarwood for covered products.

Except as stated in this Limited Warranty, Briarwood makes no other express warranties.

No oral statements, dealer statements, catalog descriptions, website descriptions, samples, photographs, showroom displays, or other materials create any warranty beyond the terms of this Limited Warranty unless expressly approved by Briarwood in writing.

19. How to Submit a Warranty Claim

Warranty claims should be submitted through the authorized Briarwood dealer from whom the product was purchased.
